The first U.S. coin to feature a real historical figure, designed by Victor David Brenner to honor Abraham Lincoln's 100th birthday. The wheat ear reverse earned these the nickname "wheaties." Key dates include the 1909-S VDB, 1914-D, and 1922 No D. The 1943 steel cents and 1944 brass shell case cents reflect wartime material changes.
