Description
The 1910 Proof Lincoln Wheat Cent is a proof cent struck at the Philadelphia Mint, part of the Lincoln Wheat Cents 1909-1958 series. The Philadelphia Mint struck 4,118 proof cents dated 1910. The obverse features Abraham Lincoln facing right, the first real person depicted on a U.S. circulating coin and the reverse displays two wheat stalks framing ONE CENT, symbolizing American agriculture. The first full year of Lincoln Cent production with the VDB initials removed from the reverse. As a matte proof, this coin was struck from lightly sandblasted dies, giving it the finely textured, satin-like surface of the 1909-1916 Lincoln proofs rather than mirror-like fields. Struck at the Philadelphia Mint. Estimated market value is approximately $825. Struck in 95% copper, 5% tin and zinc, weighing 3.11 grams, 19.05 mm in diameter, with a plain edge. Cataloged as PCGS #3306.
