Week 15
Monday's coin carries both branches of the Split Die diagram on one piece — a split die on the obverse and a retained cud on the reverse — and it is a half dime, so it calls back to both of Week 13's posts at once. Thursday is a compound error on a 1798 large cent: an overdate you have to hunt for, paired with an off-center strike you cannot miss. Saturday is a first-year 1859 Indian Head with a pre-cud on the one-year Laurel Wreath reverse.
Week 14
All three NITB coins this week are die-failure errors — and each one lands on a different branch of the diagram we published in Week 13's Split Die post. Monday is a crack that went all the way across but stopped short of splitting. Thursday is a cud that swallowed half the rim. Saturday is a die cracking in three places at once. The Split Die diagram, in the wild, three times.
