Description
The 1926 (S) Lincoln Wheat Cent is a cent produced at the San Francisco Mint as part of the Lincoln Wheat Cents 1909-1958 series. With a mintage of 4.5 million, this is a scarce issue — the lowest mintage among 3 mint variants, representing only 2% of total production. The obverse features Abraham Lincoln facing right, the first real person depicted on a U.S. circulating coin and the reverse displays two wheat stalks framing ONE CENT, symbolizing American agriculture. Minted during and after World War I, as America emerged as a global power and experienced the prosperity of the Roaring Twenties. Struck at the San Francisco Mint, established during the California Gold Rush and now primarily producing proof and collector coins.
