Description
The 1911 (S) Lincoln Wheat Cent is a cent produced at the San Francisco Mint as part of the Lincoln Wheat Cents 1909-1958 series. With a mintage of 4.0 million, this is a scarce issue — the lowest mintage among 3 mint variants, representing only 3% of total production. The obverse features Abraham Lincoln facing right, the first real person depicted on a U.S. circulating coin and the reverse displays two wheat stalks framing ONE CENT, symbolizing American agriculture. Produced during the Progressive Era, when President Theodore Roosevelt championed a renaissance in American coin design that produced some of the most beautiful coins ever struck. Struck at the San Francisco Mint, established during the California Gold Rush and now primarily producing proof and collector coins.
