Description
The 1953 (D) Lincoln Wheat Cent is a cent produced at the Denver Mint as part of the Lincoln Wheat Cents 1909-1958 series. The U.S. Mint produced 700.5 million examples, making this the highest mintage among 3 variants, accounting for 61% of the year's production. The obverse features Abraham Lincoln facing right, the first real person depicted on a U.S. circulating coin and the reverse displays two wheat stalks framing ONE CENT, symbolizing American agriculture. Minted during the post-war economic boom, the final era of silver circulating coinage in the United States before the Coinage Act of 1965. Struck at the Denver Mint, established in 1906 from an earlier assay office that processed Colorado gold rush metal. Estimated market value ranges from $0 to $1 depending on grade and condition.
