Description
The 1924 (D) Lincoln Wheat Cent is a cent produced at the Denver Mint as part of the Lincoln Wheat Cents 1909-1958 series. With a mintage of 2.5 million, this is a scarce issue — the lowest mintage among 3 mint variants, representing only 3% of total production. The obverse features Abraham Lincoln facing right, the first real person depicted on a U.S. circulating coin and the reverse displays two wheat stalks framing ONE CENT, symbolizing American agriculture. The 1924-D is a semi-key date with relatively low mintage for the era. Struck at the Denver Mint, established in 1906 from an earlier assay office that processed Colorado gold rush metal.
