Description
The 1954 (S) Lincoln Wheat Cent was struck at the San Francisco Mint as a cent in the Lincoln Wheat Cents 1909-1958 series. The San Francisco Mint struck 96,190,000 cents dated 1954. The obverse features Abraham Lincoln facing right, the first real person depicted on a U.S. circulating coin and the reverse displays two wheat stalks framing ONE CENT, symbolizing American agriculture. Minted during the post-war economic boom, the final era of silver circulating coinage in the United States before the Coinage Act of 1965. The San Francisco Mint, a Gold Rush-era institution, now specializes in proof and collector coinage. Estimated market value ranges from $0.02 to $1 depending on grade and condition.
