Description
The 1926 (D) Lincoln Wheat Cent, struck at the Denver Mint, is part of the Lincoln Wheat Cents 1909-1958 collection. The U.S. Mint produced 28.0 million examples, making this ranked 2nd of 3 mint variants by mintage, with 15% of production. The obverse features Abraham Lincoln facing right, the first real person depicted on a U.S. circulating coin and the reverse displays two wheat stalks framing ONE CENT, symbolizing American agriculture. Minted during and after World War I, as America emerged as a global power and experienced the prosperity of the Roaring Twenties. Coined at Denver's facility, which transitioned from processing Colorado gold rush metal to full-scale coin production in 1906.
