Description

A D/D/D South, East triple-punched mintmark documented by VarietyVista, this Denver Mint Lincoln Wheat Cent provides a distinctive secondary mintmark progression where a chip gradually eliminates the displaced D impression. Die markers UVC-454 / DMR-004: Stage A at EDS (unconfirmed); Stage B with secondary mintmark not fully chipped out at MDS and reverse at MDS; Stage C with secondary mintmark fully chipped out at LDS, a die crack under R of LIBERTY, a die chip on ear, a die clash at throat and behind head, a die chip on T of CENT at LDS, and a die chip in upper left wheat grains; Stage D with a stronger die crack under R of LIBERTY at LDS and a die crack lower right wheat to rim at LDS. The progressive chipping of the secondary mintmark from partial to complete elimination is a distinctive wear pattern. Composed of 95% copper and 5% tin-zinc at 3.11 grams and 19.05 mm.
