1953 (D) Lincoln Wheat Cent - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-008

Description

1953-D WDDO-008 is a doubled die obverse on the 1953-D Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. An extra eyelid shows southeast of the normal one. Wexler gives one marker per side: on the obverse, a scratch heading ESE from the upper part of the nose; on the reverse, a horizontal scratch under the S of PLURIBUS. Daniel Sas submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references. Wexler's comments ask to examine an example of this die if one turns up, to check the mint mark position and write a fuller marker description.
