Description
Doubling shows as an extra eyelid south of the normal eyelid.Die Markers: Obverse: The obverse is also an RPM listed in the Wexler RPM files as 1953-D 1¢ WRPM-084. A group of three die scratches converge to a single point in the field ESE of Lincoln’s chin. Short, curved die scratches run south from the letters E and R in LIBERTY. Diagonal die scratches are present between W and E in WE. A long die scratch runs through the upper letters in TRUST. A group of parallel, diagonal die scratches run between the letters S and T in TRUST. Numerous diagonal die scratches run southeast from Lincoln’s upper forehead and hair curl. Reverse: A horizontal die scratch runs between the upper E and P in E PLURIBUS. A light die scratch connects the lower left corner of the E in E PLURIBUS with the left wheat tip. Light, concentric die scratches run through and below PLURIBUS. Concentric die scratches run through the letters O and N in ONE. Light concentric die scratches show in the field below OF. A diagonal die scratch shows to the right of Lincoln’s upper lip. A short horizontal die scratch shows below WE. A die crack runs northwest from the back of Lincoln’s eyebrow before curving west through the central forehead. A shorter horizontal die crack shows to the northwest of the previously mentioned die crack. Numerous concentric die scratches run through Lincoln’s ear. A light diagonal die scratch shows above the Y in LIBERTY. Reverse: A diagonal die scratch runs inside the upper portion of the O in ONE. A faded diagonal die scratch shows in the field to the right of the lower E in ONE. A series of die chips show on the lower T in CENT. A diagonal die scratch runs northeast from the upper left corner of the N in UNITED. Light diagonal die scratches connect the letters U in UNITED with the O in OF.
