Description
Doubling shows as two eyelids south of the normal eyelid. Die Markers: Obverse: The obverse is a minor RPM listed in the Wexler RPM files as 1953-D 1¢ WRPM-085. A series of light concentric die scratches show in the field southeast of Lincoln’s chin. Mostly vertical die scratches show to the north of the letters I and B in LIBERTY. Light parallel die scratches show between the upper O and D in GOD. A vertical die scratch shows below the left edge of the R in TRUST. Parallel die scratches show between the upper T and R in TRUST. Reverse: A diagonal die scratch runs southwest from the B in PLURIBUS. A series of light diagonal die scratches run through the letters U and S in PLURIBUS and the U and N in UNUM. A diagonal die scratch runs northeast from the lower opening of the E in ONE. A diagonal die scratch runs northwest to the left wheat stalk from the back of the C in CENT. A series of horizontal die scratches run through the C and E in CENT. Multi-directional die scratches show to the northwest of the T in CENT. Concentric die scratches run through and above the letters E and S in STATES. A diagonal die scratch connects the lower T in UNITED to the M in AMERICA. Light concentric die scratches run toward the rim from the upper letters in GOD and the UST in TRUST. A short die scratch runs east from the lower outer curve of the 9 in the date. A strong die scratch runs south below the L in LIBERTY. A short die scratch runs southeast from Lincoln’s eyelid. Reverse: A long, almost horizontal die scratch runs from the left wheat stalk to below the C in CENT. A die gouge (dot) shows to the right of the left wheat stalk touching the previously mentioned die scratch. Vertical die scratches show to the right of the E in CENT. A vertical die scratch overlays diagonal die scratches to the right of the T in CENT. A series of diagonal die scratches run through the letters TES in STATES. Two parallel die scratches show to the left of the last A in AMERICA.
