Description
1953-D WDDO-009 is a doubled die obverse on the 1953-D Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. An extra eyelid shows south of the normal one. Obverse markers: a scratch running from the bow tie to the top of the date's 5; diagonal scratches under the TRU of TRUST; parallel scratches right of the lower ear; a series of diagonal scratches behind the lower bust; and a long diagonal scratch heading SSW from LIBERTY's Y. Reverse markers: light concentric scratches through UNUM; concentric scratches through the lower part of ONE's O; horizontal scratches right of ONE's E; a horizontal scratch through the middle of CENT's C, with a hash-marked pattern of scratches behind that letter; concentric scratches through the TES of STATES; and horizontal scratches through AMERICA. Brian Ribar submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
