The 1873 Dollar Patterns page groups the dollar patterns dated 1873 in the Trade Dollar Era Patterns (1871-1873) series, all struck at the Philadelphia Mint. The Coinage Act of February 12, 1873 ended the standard silver dollar and authorized a trade dollar of 420 grains for commerce in East Asia, and USPatterns.com counts 17 different trade dollar patterns made that year from 9 obverse and 6 reverse dies: Liberty heads by William Barber and J. A. Bailly, a head in the style of the double eagle, seated figures of Liberty by Barber and Bailly, and Barber's Indian Princess. The Mint sold six of the designs in sets for $30. J-1320 and J-1321 are an undated design that Judd now numbers J-1475a and J-1475b and dates to 1876. The page also holds strikings from the regular silver dollar dies (J-1274 and J-1275), the regular trade dollar dies in copper, aluminum, white metal and tin (J-1327 to J-1330), and the regular gold dollar dies (J-1331 and J-1332).
