Description
Featuring a design that places particular emphasis on the reverse eagle composition with spread wings and commercial symbols, J-1295 was struck in the standard silver alloy. The reverse of the Trade Dollar required careful design attention because it would be the side most frequently examined by Asian merchants evaluating the coin's legitimacy. The eagle's presentation needed to communicate both American sovereignty and the coin's silver content.
