Description
The 1873 Proof Dollar Pattern - J-1289 is a proof dollar pattern struck at the Philadelphia Mint, part of the Trade Dollar Era Patterns (1871-1873) series. Its obverse is the Liberty head in the style of the double eagle, and its reverse William Barber's eagle standing on a shield with E PLURIBUS UNUM in the field above, as on J-1281. It was struck only in copper; two are known, one of them in the Connecticut State Library. It is struck in copper with a reeded edge. USPatterns.com rates it R-8. It is also catalogued as Pollock-1431, Adams-Woodin 1341 and Taxay EP934. Cataloged as PCGS #61574.
