Description
The 1873 Proof Dollar Pattern - J-1285 is a proof dollar pattern struck at the Philadelphia Mint, part of the Trade Dollar Era Patterns (1871-1873) series. Its obverse is J. A. Bailly's Liberty head, and its reverse William Barber's eagle standing on a shield with E PLURIBUS UNUM on a ribbon, the die of J-1223 of 1872. Three examples are known in copper. It is struck in copper with a reeded edge. USPatterns.com rates it R-8. It is also catalogued as Pollock-1427, Adams-Woodin 1306 and Taxay EP932. Cataloged as PCGS #61570.
