Description
The 1873 Proof Dollar Pattern - J-1308 is a proof dollar pattern struck at the Philadelphia Mint, part of the Trade Dollar Era Patterns (1871-1873) series. Its obverse is William Barber's Indian Princess design, and its reverse his eagle standing on a shield with the motto on a ribbon in its beak. The single silver example is pedigreed to the Boyd and Guild collections. The numbers J-1326a and J-1326b were once given to this die pair in error. It is struck in silver with a reeded edge. USPatterns.com lists it as unique. It is also catalogued as Pollock-1451 and Taxay EP948. Cataloged as PCGS #61594.
