Description
The 1959 (D) Lincoln Memorial Cent was struck at the Denver Mint as a cent in the Lincoln Memorial Cents 1959-2008 series. The U.S. Mint produced 1.3 billion examples, making this the higher-mintage of the two mint variants, representing 68% of production. The obverse features Abraham Lincoln facing right and the reverse displays the Lincoln Memorial building in Washington, D.C. First year of the Memorial reverse, commemorating the sesquicentennial of Lincoln's birth. Coined at Denver's facility, which transitioned from processing Colorado gold rush metal to full-scale coin production in 1906.
