1959-D Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-003
ErrorDescription
Shifting to the reverse side of the die, WDDR-003 is a 1959-D Lincoln Memorial cent showing a close spread towards the center on the designer's initials and the lower letters in ONE CENT. Cataloged by the Wexler Team, this doubled die reverse complements the extensive family of doubled die obverses known for the date. On the obverse, a short die scratch runs north from the top of the front of the beard. The reverse die markers include a die gouge to the left of the I in UNITED and another die gouge south of the right end of the Memorial. Doubled die reverses from the 1959-D cent are less numerous than their obverse counterparts, giving WDDR-003 added significance for collectors seeking comprehensive first-year Memorial cent coverage from the Denver facility.
