Description

Distinctive for its high mint mark placement, WDDO-012 from the 1959-D Lincoln cent series features a D mint mark punched so high it nearly touches the bottom of the nine in the date—an immediately visible characteristic even without magnification. The doubled eyelid below the normal one confirms the variety's doubled die obverse status, as documented by the Wexler Team. An obverse die scratch connecting the top of the O and the top of the D in GOD provides additional confirmation. On the reverse, a large die chip on the right side of the right cornice stands out as a bold diagnostic. The combination of the unusual mint mark position and the prominent reverse die chip makes WDDO-012 one of the most visually distinctive members of the 1959-D eyelid group, offering multiple identification pathways for cherry-pickers.
