1959-D Repunched Mintmark RPM-021

Description

A D/D Rotated CW variety documented by VarietyVista, this Denver Mint coin is from the inaugural year of Frank Gasparro's Memorial reverse, making it one of the first Lincoln Memorial Cent RPMs. Die markers span two pairings: UVC-3420 / DMR-036 for Stage A at EDS (unconfirmed) and Stage B with a light die crack north-south in hair at LMDS, strong die clash through 19 of the date, a die chip on the right cornice and on column #12, and die clash in upper bays #8 and #9 at MDS. Then UVC-1105 / DMR-030: Stage C with a longer die crack in the hair at LDS, the reverse die changed at LMDS, a die chip at the right eave tip, and a small die gouge from rim at K-8:45. The die clash evidence at Stage B indicates the dies struck each other without a planchet. Struck in 95% copper and 5% tin-zinc at 3.11 grams and 19.05 mm.
