1959 (D) Lincoln Memorial Cent - Atypical Die Clash ADC-1C-1959D-02

Description

ADC-1c-1959D-02 is an atypical die clash on a 1959-D Lincoln Memorial cent, cataloged by Mad Die Clashes as a tilted clash. The dies met with a 4° rotation between them. On the obverse, the upper parts of the T, A and T from STATES were transferred to a spot beneath Lincoln's bust. The matching mark on the reverse is a bar across STAT, made by the field under the bust. A teardrop-shaped mark at the right end of the first T's crossbar in STATES came from a fold in Lincoln's jacket. MDC shows an overlay of where the two dies sat when they clashed.
