Massachusetts Silver Coins (1652-1662)
Coin Series
About This Series
The first coins struck in British North America, produced at the Hull Mint in Boston under authorization from the Massachusetts General Court. The series includes Willow Tree, Oak Tree, and Pine Tree shillings, sixpences, and threepences, all dated 1652 regardless of actual production year. John Hull and Robert Sanderson operated the mint, producing coins that defied English royal authority.
