About This Series

The first U.S. coin to honor a non-mythical woman, depicting suffragist Susan B. Anthony. Designed by Frank Gasparro, the small dollar was widely unpopular due to its similarity in size to the quarter. Produced in 1979-1981 and briefly revived in 1999 as a bridge to the Sacagawea dollar. The 1981 is available only from mint and proof sets.
