Description
The 1999 (P) Susan B. Anthony Dollar, struck at the Philadelphia Mint, is part of the Susan B. Anthony Dollars 1979-1999 collection. The obverse features Susan B. Anthony facing right, the first real woman, rather than an allegorical figure, on a circulating U.S. coin, and the reverse displays an eagle landing on the moon, adapted from the Apollo 11 mission patch. Briefly revived to meet demand for dollar coins in transit and vending while the Sacagawea Dollar was being designed. Philadelphia's mint — the nation's first — has produced coins without interruption since its founding in 1792. Estimated market value ranges from $1 to $4 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 75% copper, 25% nickel over a pure copper center, weighing 8.1 grams, 26.5 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #9581.
