Description

The 1999 (P) Susan B. Anthony Dollar is a dollar produced at the Philadelphia Mint as part of the Susan B. Anthony Dollars 1979-1999 series. With a mintage of 29.6 million, this is a less common issue — the higher-mintage of the two mint variants, representing 72% of production. The obverse features Susan B. Anthony facing right, the first woman depicted on a U.S. circulating coin and the reverse displays an eagle landing on the moon, adapted from the Apollo 11 mission patch. Briefly revived to meet demand for dollar coins in transit and vending while the Sacagawea Dollar was being designed. The 1999-P Wide Rim variety is a sought-after modern rarity. Struck at the original U.S. Mint facility, in continuous operation since 1792. Estimated market value ranges from $1 to $4 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 75% copper, 25% nickel over a pure copper center, weighing 8.1 grams, 26.5 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #9581.
