The 1979 (S) Susan B. Anthony Dollar, struck at the San Francisco Mint, is part of the Susan B. Anthony Dollars 1979-1999 collection. The obverse features Susan B. Anthony facing right, the first real woman, rather than an allegorical figure, on a circulating U.S. coin, and the reverse displays an eagle landing on the moon, adapted from the Apollo 11 mission patch. First year of the Susan B. Anthony Dollar — the first circulating U.S. coin to depict a real woman. Public rejection was immediate due to confusion with the quarter. Coined at the San Francisco Mint, which transitioned from Gold Rush-era production to its modern role producing proof and collector issues. Estimated market value ranges from $1 to $7 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 75% copper, 25% nickel over a pure copper center, weighing 8.1 grams, 26.5 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge.
