Draped Bust Dollars 1795-1804
Coin Series
About This Series
Silver dollars featuring the Draped Bust portrait with Small Eagle (1795-1798) and Heraldic Eagle (1798-1804) reverses. The 1804 dollar, though dated 1804, was actually struck in the 1830s as diplomatic gifts and is among the most famous rarities in numismatics. Only 15 specimens are known across three classes. Production of silver dollars was suspended from 1804 to 1836.
