Description
Part of the Susan B. Anthony Dollars 1979-1999 series, the 1980 (S) Susan B. Anthony Dollar is a dollar from the San Francisco Mint. The obverse features Susan B. Anthony facing right, the first real woman, rather than an allegorical figure, on a circulating U.S. coin, and the reverse displays an eagle landing on the moon, adapted from the Apollo 11 mission patch. Production dropped sharply as the coin's unpopularity became evident. Coined at the San Francisco Mint, which transitioned from Gold Rush-era production to its modern role producing proof and collector issues. Estimated market value ranges from $1 to $14 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 75% copper, 25% nickel over a pure copper center, weighing 8.1 grams, 26.5 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge.
