1979 (D) Susan B. Anthony Dollar - Atypical Die Clash ADC-100c-1979D-01

Description

ADC-100c-1979D-01 is an atypical die clash on a 1979-D Susan B. Anthony dollar, cataloged by Mad Die Clashes. The clash is strong, and the marks were never polished off either die. On the obverse, the eagle's upper tail feather shows just past the tip of Anthony's nose, the lower part of the eagle's left wing runs from her lip to the I of IN, and the Earth and the top of the eagle's right wing left the clearest marks; the obverse also shows some machine doubling. On the reverse, her bun and the back of her neck cross the Earth down to the eagle's head, and the outline of her face shows in the field just left of the eagle. Mad Die Clashes shows an overlay of the two dies as they met. The coin it illustrates is in the collection of Joshua S. Wells.
