Description
The 2018 (P) Block Island National Park Quarter is a quarter produced at the Philadelphia Mint as part of the America the Beautiful Quarters 2010-2021 series. The U.S. Mint produced 159.6 million examples, making this ranked 8th of 15 mint variants by mintage, with 9% of production. The obverse features George Washington facing left, based on a 1786 bust by Jean-Antoine Houdon and the reverse displays unique designs featuring national parks and sites from each state and territory. The reverse depicts a black-crowned night-heron in flight over Cow Cove. Block Island protects critical coastal habitat recognized by The Nature Conservancy as one of the "Last Great Places" in the Western Hemisphere. Pictured Rocks (MI), Apostle Islands (WI), Voyageurs (MN), Cumberland Island (GA), and Block Island (RI) were featured. The program continued with strong collector support nearing its conclusion. Struck at the original U.S. Mint facility, in continuous operation since 1792. Estimated market value ranges from $0 to $1 depending on grade and condition.
