2018 (P) Block Island National Wildlife Refuge Quarter - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-014

Description

2018-P RI WDDR-014 is a doubled die reverse on the 2018-P Block Island National Wildlife Refuge quarter (Rhode Island) in the America the Beautiful series, cataloged by the Wexler team. Doubling is visible at the lower end of the left wing's third feather above the ground. Obverse markers: a crack with chipping on the bust's base over the D of DOLLAR; a gouge on the nose; a gouge under the T in LIBERTY and a large one over the L in LIBERTY; a gouge under the A of DOLLAR; one between the U and S in TRUST; one under the U of UNITED; and a large gouge under the R in AMERICA on its left side. On the reverse, a large die break lies under the top feather, a gouge sits left of the bird's upper left wing, and another lies in the field over the M of UNUM. George W. Powell, Jr. submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references. Wexler notes this listing replaces an earlier one: the first WDDR-014 proved to duplicate WDDR-008.
