2018 (P) Block Island National Wildlife Refuge Quarter - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-011

Description

2018-P RI WDDR-011 is a doubled die reverse on the 2018-P Block Island National Wildlife Refuge quarter (Rhode Island) in the America the Beautiful series, cataloged by the Wexler team. Doubling is visible at the lower end of the left wing's third feather above the ground. Obverse markers: a long crack across the bust's base; a thin scratch running NE off the top of LIBERTY's T; a NW/SE scratch under the chin; large gouges on either side of the first T of TRUST; a large gouge right of the R in AMERICA; a large gouge well to the left of the U of UNITED; and a gouge above and between the last R of QUARTER and the D of DOLLAR. Reverse markers: a chip on the bird's back beneath the top feather, with a crack reaching into the tail feathers; a gouge at the building's roof; a gouge left of the building, near the outer ring; a large gouge over the last C of the designer's initials CTC; a gouge near the outer ring above those initials; and two gouges to the right of the bird's far wing. Aaron Laramee submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references. Wexler notes this listing replaces an earlier one, since the first WDDR-011 turned out to duplicate WDDR-008.
