2018 (P) Block Island National Wildlife Refuge Quarter - Variety WMHR-001

Description

2018-P RI WMHR-001 is a master hub doubled reverse on the 2018-P Block Island National Wildlife Refuge quarter (Rhode Island) in the America the Beautiful series, cataloged by the Wexler team. Wexler files it under master hub doubling. Very minor doubling is visible at the ends of the left wing's four feathers just beneath the tail feathers. Since the doubling is in the master hub, Wexler says the markers on both sides differ from one affected working die to the next, and the doubling should appear on every 2018-P Block Island quarter. Wexler adds that the doubling can look different depending on wear to the master hub, the master die, the working hub and the working die, and on wear to the coin itself, and that die deterioration doubling often affects this part of the design. George W. Powell, Jr. submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
