2018 (P) Block Island National Wildlife Refuge Quarter - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-001

Description

2018-P RI WDDR-001 is a doubled die reverse on the 2018-P Block Island National Wildlife Refuge quarter (Rhode Island) in the America the Beautiful series, cataloged by the Wexler team. Very minor doubling is visible where the left and right wing feathers meet at their lower intersection. Wexler notes no significant markers on obverse Stage A. Obverse Stage B adds a thin NW/SE scratch across the Y in LIBERTY at its right arm; gouges left of the A's base in QUARTER, between the tops of its R and T (small) and over its ER (small); small gouges on both sides of the S in TRUST; a gouge left of the N in IN; one in the E of AMERICA, in its lower opening; and small gouges on the neck's back. Reverse Stage A likewise has no significant markers. Reverse Stage B shows several cracks under the top feather, large gouges beneath the bird's beak, a large gouge above the wave that lies NW of the designer's initials PH, and a gouge on the lower left wave. Evan Goldfarb submitted Stage A and George W. Powell Jr. submitted Stage B. Wexler lists no cross-references.
