2018 (P) Block Island National Wildlife Refuge Quarter - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-015

Description

2018-P RI WDDR-015 is a doubled die reverse on the 2018-P Block Island National Wildlife Refuge quarter (Rhode Island) in the America the Beautiful series, cataloged by the Wexler team. Doubling is visible at the lower end of the left wing's second feather above the ground. Obverse markers: a large but weak dent on the rim between UNITED and LIBERTY; a large gouge NW of the first R of QUARTER; a gouge between the U and S of TRUST; and a gouge between the D of UNITED and the first S of STATES. Reverse markers: a chip under the top feather; a gouge SW of the K in BLOCK; NW/SE feeder finger scrapes on both sides of the bird's left wing; a gouge left of the bend in the bird's left wing; and a gouge in the waves nearest the shore, straight below the wing tip. Aaron Laramee submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references. Wexler notes this listing replaces an earlier one, because the first WDDR-015 turned out to be WDDR-003 at an earlier stage.
