Gilroy Roberts' portrait of President John F. Kennedy, rushed into production within months of the assassination. The 1964 issues in 90% silver were heavily hoarded by the public as memorials. Frank Gasparro designed the heraldic eagle reverse based on the Presidential Seal. These coins represent a watershed moment in American numismatic history.
