Among the first half dollars produced by the United States Mint, featuring Robert Scot's flowing hair Liberty portrait and a small eagle within a wreath. Approximately 323,000 were struck across both years. The 1794 is considerably scarcer than the 1795, and both are prized by early American coin collectors. Die varieties are extensively cataloged.
