Description
A dollar from the Philadelphia Mint, the 2007 (P) Presidential Dollar - George Washington, Position B belongs to the Presidential Dollars 2007 to Date series. The U.S. Mint struck 176.7 million 2007 (P) George Washington dollars in all, Position B and Position A edges together; how the total divides between the two is not recorded. The obverse features rotating portraits of each U.S. president in order of service, released four per year and the reverse displays the Statue of Liberty. The first President of the United States (1789–1797), George Washington served as Commander-in-Chief of the Continental Army during the American Revolution and established many precedents for the office, including the tradition of a two-term limit. He is often called the "Father of His Country." Inaugural year of the Presidential Dollar Program, honoring Washington, Adams, Jefferson, and Madison. The "Godless Dollar" error — coins struck without the edge-incused motto IN GOD WE TRUST — generated national headlines and collector frenzy. Struck in 88.5% copper, 6% zinc, 3.5% manganese and 2% nickel, weighing 8.1 grams, 26.5 mm in diameter, with a lettered edge. Cataloged as PCGS #150210.
