Description
The 2007 (D) Presidential Dollar - James Madison, Position A is a dollar produced at the Denver Mint as part of the Presidential Dollars 2007 to Date series. The U.S. Mint produced 87.8 million examples, making this ranked 3rd of 20 mint variants by mintage, with 4% of production. The obverse features rotating portraits of each U.S. president in order of service, released four per year and the reverse displays the Statue of Liberty. The fourth President (1809–1817), James Madison is known as the "Father of the Constitution" for his pivotal role in drafting the document and the Bill of Rights. His presidency was defined by the War of 1812, during which the British burned the White House and Capitol in 1814. Inaugural year of the Presidential Dollar Program, honoring Washington, Adams, Jefferson, and Madison. The "Godless Dollar" error — coins struck without the edge-incused motto IN GOD WE TRUST — generated national headlines and collector frenzy. Struck at the Denver Mint, established in 1906 from an earlier assay office that processed Colorado gold rush metal. Estimated market value ranges from $1 to $5 depending on grade and condition.
