Description

2007-P WDDR-016 is a doubled die reverse on the 2007 George Washington Presidential dollar, cataloged by the Wexler team. The doubling appears at the identical location: the intersection of the second ray clockwise from the Statue of Liberty's head and the statue's right arm on Don Everhart's common reverse design. Position A and Position B name which way up the edge lettering runs (on Position A it reads upside down when the portrait faces up); the Mint added the lettering after striking, in random orientation, so the same die variety occurs with either. Attributed by the Wexler Team under variety ID 2007-P $1 GW WDDR-016, both sides are in early die state with no significant die markers noted. No cross-references to other attribution systems are currently known. Struck at the Philadelphia Mint in manganese brass clad composition, the Presidential Dollar series launched in 2007 with Washington as the inaugural issue honoring deceased presidents in order of service. Examine the intersection of the second clockwise ray and the right arm on the reverse.
