Description

Part of the Presidential Dollars 2007 to Date series, the 2007 (D) Presidential Dollar - George Washington, Position B is a dollar from the Denver Mint. Denver struck 163.7 million George Washington dollars in 2007 across both edge positions; how many have Position B lettering is not recorded. The obverse features rotating portraits of each U.S. president in order of service, released four per year and the reverse displays the Statue of Liberty. The first President of the United States (1789–1797), George Washington served as Commander-in-Chief of the Continental Army during the American Revolution and established many precedents for the office, including the tradition of a two-term limit. He is often called the "Father of His Country." Inaugural year of the Presidential Dollar Program, honoring Washington, Adams, Jefferson, and Madison. The "Godless Dollar" error — coins struck without the edge-incused motto IN GOD WE TRUST — generated national headlines and collector frenzy. Denver's mint evolved from a frontier assay office into one of the nation's primary coin production facilities, opening in 1906. Struck in 88.5% copper, 6% zinc, 3.5% manganese and 2% nickel, weighing 8.1 grams, 26.5 mm in diameter, with a lettered edge. Cataloged as PCGS #150214.
