Description

Struck at Philadelphia for the George Washington Presidential Dollar in Position A die orientation, this 2007-P WDDR-001 shows doubling at the intersection of the 2nd ray clockwise from Liberty's head and her right arm on the Statue of Liberty reverse. Attributed as 2007-P $1 GW WDDR-001 by the Wexler Team, the doubling targets a geometrically specific point where two design elements converge, demanding precise magnification placement. A horizontal die scratch above the T in PRESIDENT identifies the obverse die. Reverse markers include a short die gouge running north to the rim from the top left of the M in AMERICA, short die scratches running north-northeast from the circular line below the left side of E and between E and R in AMERICA, and a short die gouge running south-southeast from the bottom right of the vertical bar through the dollar sign. The Presidential Dollar series introduced edge lettering and a new reverse design featuring the Statue of Liberty, providing fresh territory for die variety discovery. Position A indicates the obverse die was oriented with the portrait upright relative to the edge inscription.
