Description
The 1943 (D) Jefferson Nickel - Wartime Silver Alloy was struck at the Denver Mint as a nickel in the Jefferson Nickels Original Design 1938-2003 series. With a mintage of 15.3 million, this is a less common issue — the lowest mintage among 4 mint variants, representing only 2% of total production. The obverse features Thomas Jefferson facing left and the reverse displays Monticello, Thomas Jefferson's Virginia estate. All 1943 nickels are silver alloy (35% silver, 56% copper, 9% manganese).
