Description
The 1925 Peace Dollar is a dollar produced at the Philadelphia Mint as part of the Peace Dollars 1921-1935 series. The U.S. Mint produced 10.2 million examples, making this the higher-mintage of the two mint variants, representing 86% of production. The obverse features a youthful Liberty facing left wearing a radiate crown, designed after sculptor Anthony de Francisci's wife Teresa and the reverse displays a bald eagle perched on a rock above the word PEACE, with rays of sunlight. The 1925-S with a mintage of 1,610,000 is a semi-key date that saw heavy circulation in Western states. Struck at the original U.S. Mint facility, in continuous operation since 1792. Estimated market value ranges from $74 to $243 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 26.73 grams, 38.1 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge.
