1925 Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-001

Description

Close doubling shows on the designer’s initials and on the 5 in the date. Die Markers: Obverse: A light die crack runs across the base of the bust. Reverse: The reverse is a doubled die listed in the Wexler Doubled Die Files as 1925 $1 WDDR-001. A significant spread shows on the olive branch and leaves, the eagle’s talons, and the back feathers on the lower legs. Heavy NE/SW die scratches run through USA and EPU. A heavy diagonal die gouge runs from the top right of the first U in PLURIBUS to the O in ONE.
