1925 Peace Dollar - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-001
Error
Description
1925 WDDO-001 is a doubled die obverse on the 1925 Peace dollar, cataloged by the Wexler team. The date's 5 and the designer's initials show close doubling. On the obverse, a light crack crosses the base of the bust. The reverse is the doubled die 1925 WDDR-001, with a significant spread on the talons, the olive branch and leaves, and the back feathers of the lower legs. Heavy NE/SW scratches cross USA (UNITED STATES OF AMERICA) and E PLURIBUS UNUM, and a heavy diagonal gouge runs from the top right of PLURIBUS's first U to the O of ONE. John A. Wexler submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
