About This Series

Silver dollars produced specifically for trade with China and other Asian nations, where they competed with the Mexican peso. Christian Gobrecht's seated Liberty holds an olive branch toward Asia on the obverse. Circulating issues were struck from 1873-1878, with proof-only dates from 1879-1885. The 1884 and 1885 proofs, with only 10 and 5 known respectively, are great rarities.
