About This Series

The first .9999 fine (24-karat) gold bullion coin produced by the U.S. Mint, featuring James Earle Fraser's iconic 1913 Buffalo nickel design. The one-ounce $50 coin was authorized by the Presidential $1 Coin Act. Both proof and bullion versions are struck at West Point. Fractional denominations (half-ounce, quarter-ounce, tenth-ounce) were produced only in 2008.
