Description

Part of the American Buffalo Gold 2006 to Date series, the 2025 (W) American Buffalo .9999 Fine Gold Fifty Dollar is a gold coin from the West Point Mint. The Mint sold 120,500 one-ounce American Buffalo bullion coins in 2025, by its calendar-year sales figures; it publishes no count by date for these years. The obverse features James Earle Fraser's Native American portrait from the 1913 Buffalo nickel, which Fraser said combined the features of three chiefs, Iron Tail, Two Moons and Big Tree, and the reverse displays his American bison standing on a mound. A modern issue from an era of rotating coin designs, collector-focused programs, and renewed interest in numismatic artistry. West Point's facility evolved from a bullion storage depot into a key coin production center, now responsible for many commemorative and precious-metal issues. Struck in 99.99% gold, weighing 31.1 grams, 32.7 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #973239.
